Element: Lay out components and materials
  • Identify and follow site work health and safety requirements
  • Determine floor layout and individual cabinet construction requirements from installation documentation or through checking with supervisor
  • Lay out components to match sequence of assembly
  • Check product codes and labels and identify any special installation requirements
  • Use joining methods according to installation documentation or supervisor instructions
  • Complete cabinet facings in accordance with task requirements
  • Use measuring techniques to confirm correct carcass levels
  • Attach components to cabinets in correct locations
  • Make minor adjustments using appropriate assembly techniques according to supervisor instructions
  • Inspect completed carcasses for compliance with quality requirements, rectify any deficiencies and confirm work with supervisor
  • Use hand and power tools safely and according to operating instructions
  • Confirm cabinet fixing methods with supervisor according to site requirements
  • Fix cabinets to walls and floors according to installation documentation and supervisor instructions
  • Fix components according to installation documentation and supervisor instructions
  • Clean cabinets and confirm installation complies with quality requirements
  • Identify and rectify any deficiencies under guidance from supervisor
  • Clean work area and dispose of rubbish safely and in accordance with environmental standards

Assessment Tasks
